Florian Burgener was born in Brig-Glis in the Upper Valais in 1971. Today he lives with his family in Bitsch.
At the age of 12 Florian began his musical education by playing the trumpet and was able to turn this into a profession in 1996, when he received his teaching diploma for trumpet and pedagogy from Claude Rippas at the Zurich Conservatory.
Florian teaches at the General Music School Oberwallis since 1991 as a teacher for trumpet & cornet – additionally since 2017 also as a teacher for alphorn. In addition, he conducts the music societies from Münster and Betten/Bettmeralp. His constant family trips to Oberried in the Valais have awakened in him a passion for natural tone playing on the alphorn and buechel. In 2016 he founded with 2 musicians the trio Spirit of Alphorn with the instrumentation: alphorn, pan flute and organ.
Florian is a member of the Oberwalliser Alphornvereinigung. Since 2017 Florian is a member of the WJV and the EJV and is involved with ARCDA-ARY as a composer as well as a course instructor j+m. Since 2019, he has also played Büchel. In 2020 he will bring out an anthology for Alphorn & Büchel with 20 original compositions incl. a selection of sound samples on CD.
In addition, he also arranges and composes for other types of instrumentation.
