Patrick Kissling grew up in Langenthal. He started playing the trumpet at the age of 10, then switched to the euphonium and later, at the age of 21, to the French horn, which he still plays passionately in various formations. He has been playing the alphorn since 2010, when he was surprised with a borrowed horn for his birthday. The alphorn with its natural tone series and playing in nature inspired him so much that he quickly became an alphorn collector and also began to write his own compositions and arrangements. To date, he has written over 200 compositions and over 500 arrangements in a wide variety of styles.
He often takes the alphorn with him on his hikes in the mountains and uses it to explore the mountain world acoustically.
In 2012, he founded the AlphornFa.ch alphorn quartet, which plays traditional melodies as well as jazzy and pop tunes. The Alphorntrio Binzberg was added in 2022. He has been organizing regular concerts with Lisa Stoll since 2020. Since 2023 there has been the Alphorn-Montage concert series in Burgdorf, where he is president of the supporting association of the same name.
Patrick Kissling is married to Eva Cotti and has 2 adult children. He is a civil engineer by profession and works in traffic engineering. He lives in Burgdorf.
