Alphorn Master Class

Do you enjoy playing the alphorn in a challenging group? Then you can look forward to a course weekend with Martin Roos in the middle of the beautiful Jura landscape in Solothurn. Wisen. We play traditional and modern pieces together outdoors. The PlayDay is opten to all UK Alphorn players. Timetable 10:00-10:25 Coffee/tea, registration, welcome & introduction 10:30-15:25 Playing sessions 15:30-16:00 Tea, discussion and close The musical content and format will depend on the number, standard, pitch of instruments and stated preferences of the players attending. This is not a tutored course, but I will provide the nusic, sut up the groups, direct the tuttis, circulate and be available to guide and advise as required.

As an advanced alphorn player, during a course weekend you will expand your alphorn skills, improve your blowing technique and accuracy and devote yourself to playing in a group. Requirements: Advanced alphorn players. The alphorn is played in G flat / F sharp. Aims/content: Participants apply their knowledge of the alphorn, improve their blowing technique and accuracy, focus on music theory and playing in a group. The purpose of this alphorn gathering will be to experience playing alphorns in a group setting in the Lake Tahoe area. There will be an emphasis on playing musically and listening to the group for cohesion and timbre. We will be practicing playing in the traditional way with no conductor.
