Tahoe Alphorn Experience

The purpose of this alphorn gathering will be to experience playing alphorns in a group setting in the Lake Tahoe area. There will be an emphasis on playing musically and listening to the group for cohesion and timbre. We will be practicing playing in the traditional way with no conductor.

You do not need to own an alphorn to participate in this event! There will be alphorns available for rental for a fee of $80.

Thursday, October 3rd:

• 2:00pm-4:30pm – meet-n-greet with alphorns (Location TBD)
• 5:30pm – dinner TBD

Friday, October 4th:

• 8:00am-9:30am – breakfast (location TBD)
• 9:30am-11:30am – morning playing session (Location TBD)
• 11:30am-1:00pm – break for lunch
• 1:30pm-5:30pm – field trip and lakeside playing session, location TBD (Tallac Historic Site?)

Saturday, October 5th:

• 8:00am-9:30am – breakfast (location TBD)
• 9:30am-5:30am – field trip to Carson Pass/Woods Lake (weather permitting)
  (split into two groups with the option of either a hike or a picnic)
• 5:30pm – Dinner (location TBD, [Swiss Lakewood])

Sunday, October 8th:

• 8:00am-9:30am – breakfast (location TBD)
• 10:00am-12:30am – tram ride to High Camp; play alphorns at the top
• 12:30am-2:30pm – break for lunch
• 2:30pm-6:00pm – Concert? TBD
