SUMMARY:Tahoe Alphorn Experience
DESCRIPTION:The purpose of this alphorn gathering will be to experience playing alphorns in a group setting in the Lake Tahoe area. There will be an emphasis on playing musically and listening to the group for cohesion and timbre. We will be practicing playing in the traditional way with no conductor. \nYou do not need to own an alphorn to participate in this event! There will be alphorns available for rental for a fee of $80. \nThursday\, October 3rd: \n\n2:00pm-4:30pm – meet-n-greet with alphorns (Location TBD)\n5:30pm – dinner TBD\n\nFriday\, October 4th: \n\n8:00am-9:30am – breakfast (location TBD)\n9:30am-11:30am – morning playing session (Location TBD)\n11:30am-1:00pm – break for lunch\n1:30pm-5:30pm – field trip and lakeside playing session\, location TBD (Tallac Historic Site?)\n\nSaturday\, October 5th: \n\n8:00am-9:30am – breakfast (location TBD)\n9:30am-5:30am – field trip to Carson Pass/Woods Lake (weather permitting)\n(split into two groups with the option of either a hike or a picnic)\n5:30pm – Dinner (location TBD\, [Swiss Lakewood])\n\nSunday\, October 8th: \n\n8:00am-9:30am – breakfast (location TBD)\n10:00am-12:30am – tram ride to High Camp; play alphorns at the top\n12:30am-2:30pm – break for lunch\n2:30pm-6:00pm – Concert? SUMMARY:2nd International Alphorn Meeting in the Netherlands
DESCRIPTION:At this meeting\, we practise a lot and cover new things. At the end of the day\, we organize a concert in the city center with all the participants. We introduce the instrument to the audience and explain what it is used for\, how it is built and how it is played. Many people know nothing about the alphorn. On the day there is coffee\, tea\, drinks and a simple lunch. There is plenty of time to exchange experiences and new things are introduced during the breaks. You can also try out other alphorns. There are also many alphorns\, adapters between F and F sharp and many types of mouthpieces from different alphorn makers (Bader\, Eichenberger\, Bernatone\, …) to try out. An interesting day with lots of new things to try out. Musically we rehearse new pieces and give hot tips for playing. Big news. We have the first wedge mouthpiece from Canada for alphorn. A warm welcome! Prerequisite for participation is some experience with wind instruments.

SUMMARY:Alphorn course for advanced students with Balthasar Streiff
DESCRIPTION:Soft\, bright sound. Light play in all positions. Play for a long time without getting tired. Inspired music-making. The course is aimed at all those who have already taken their first steps in alphorn playing and have mastered a (small) standard repertoire. We search for new worlds of sound in the instrument and also discover the potential that lies within us. Methodically correct practicing is just as important as the ability to listen to yourself. We improvise and cultivate group play. At the end\, we organize a small concert in the square.
