DESCRIPTION:Established in 2008\, The North American Alphorn Retreat is the oldest and longest running alphorn workshop in North America.  This event is immersive\, and provides a fantastic opportunity to learn about the alphorn in an idyllic alpine setting. In addition to our top notch instruction\, the North American Alphorn Retreat provides group dinners where you will get the opportunity to speak with our instructors outside of the group rehearsal setting. \n2024 marks the 17th annual retreat\, and we are excited for this to be the best one yet.

SUMMARY:Arosa Alphorn Academy. Traditional\, modern and contemporary with Lukas Briggen
DESCRIPTION:Course for very advanced students as part of the Arosa Music Course Weeks.\nLukas Briggen takes over from Balthasar Streiff in 2024. Information based on previous year\, update to follow.\nFor many musicians\, the alphorn has the significance of a second instrument. The pure tuning and the relative lack of interesting scores have so far limited professionalization. But times are changing: the trend towards a radical expansion of the use of the alphorn has begun. The course takes this fact into account by rehearsing various challenging pieces.\nThe prerequisite for the course is that you already play the alphorn or a brass instrument at a high\, semi-professional or professional level. This is how we work in the technical\nThe alphorn is a musical instrument in which the individual skills are transferred to the sound and playing culture of the alphorn. This then leads to perfecting the group playing in terms of sound\, dynamics and intonation.\n\nPlaying long and high with great ease is on the wish list of most wind players. We will therefore focus on clarinet blowing\, a technique that has lost importance with the introduction of valves\, but which is of great significance for the alphorn. This is also taught in short individual lessons during the week.\n\nTopic:\n\nHigh\, light playing on the alphorn\, sound culture in group playing.\nFor brass players: Transferring individual skills to the characteristics of the alphorn.\nRehearsing new\, challenging pieces.\nThere is an opportunity to get to know the Büchel.\n\nTarget group\nVery advanced amateurs on alphorn\, students\, professional musicians on brass instruments\n\nForm of teaching\n\nIntensive group lessons\, also phases with individualization and individual support. Also depends somewhat on the needs of the participants. \nA small collaboration with other brass classes present is planned. \n

DESCRIPTION:The event ALPHORN 555 shall make history and we alphorn players will be the main actors! \n“The world record in alphorn blowing with a (very large) large formation belongs to Central Switzerland\,” Heinz Rutishauser\, the head of Bergbahnen Beckenried-Emmetten AG\, said to me with a grin a few weeks ago. The people of Nidwalden want to set the world record with at least 555 alphorn blowers on August 31\, 2024 on the beautiful Klewenalp. The Federal Association of Yodelers and all five sub-associations are enthusiastic about the idea and are partners in this spectacular event. High above and with a view of Lake Lucerne\, over 3\,000 visitors are expected. Federal Councillor Albert Rösti has also already confirmed his participation. The Klewenalp is known for its annual 3-day KlewenAlpFestival with natural yodel\, Ländler and the yodel mass. \nMake a big note of the date in your agenda. As soon as we have information about the organization of your arrival and return\, the catering or other key data I will write you an email again.
