Unlike other alphorn courses\, we introduce you to the iconic Swiss instrument in its natural habitat. For the day we provide an alphorn for all participants. \nGlattalp is not only a scenic highlight. The mountain lake and the echo amidst the steep rock faces create an incomparable alphorn experience. One of the coldest places in Switzerland in winter\, a visit is also refreshing in summer. After a one-hour drive to Muotathal\, a cable car takes us to 1852 meters above sea level. We can now play the alphorn at one of the echo points or during an entertaining walk around the Glattalpsee. For lunch\, a cozy mountain restaurant is a good choice; alternatively\, we bring the food ourselves. \nAlphorn rental and mountain railroad included in the price.

After a one-hour drive to Oberrickenback\, a gondola lift takes us to the Chrützhütte at 1718 meters above sea level. We can linger there\, play at Bannsee or hike to the spectacular Alp Oberfeld (45 minutes from Bannsee\, 250 meters high)\, famous for its echo. You can bring your own lunch or take it in one of the restaurants in the area. Note: Bannalp is also suitable for two-day trips with an overnight stay at the Chrützhütte; couples and small families can also book a room at Alp Oberfeld. Price includes gondola ticket.

SUMMARY:The North American Alphorn Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Established in 2008\, The North American Alphorn Retreat is the oldest and longest running alphorn workshop in North America. This event is immersive\, and provides a fantastic opportunity to learn about the alphorn in an idyllic alpine setting. In addition to our top notch instruction\, the North American Alphorn Retreat provides group dinners where you will get the opportunity to speak with our instructors outside of the group rehearsal setting. \n2023 marks the 16th annual retreat\, and we are excited for this to be the best one yet. This year the retreat will take place Wednesday August 16th – Satuday August 19th at the Snowbird Ski Resort in the beautiful Wasatch mountains just minutes from Salt Lake City\, UT. The final concert will take place as part of Snowbird’s Oktoberfest\, which is one of the largest in the United States. \nThe North American Alphorn Retreat is taught using alphorns in the key of F. Alphorns will be available to rent if you do not have an alphorn of your own\, do not wish to travel with your horn\, or your alphorn does not play in the key of F. \nThe price for the North American Alphorn Retreat is $700. This fee includes all group lessons\, as well as 5 meals during the four day retreat. There is a discounted rate of $600 for students enrolled in elementary school- post graduate. The fee for non-playing guests is $350\, this rate includes all of the meals during the retreat. The price to rent a horn for the duration of the retreat is $50. \n​

Unlike other alphorn courses\, we introduce you to the iconic Swiss instrument in its natural habitat. For the day we provide an alphorn for all participants. \nThe journey to Oberblegisee is quite long: first a one-hour ride by minibus to Luchsingen\, then an exciting gondola ride to Brunnenberg and finally a steep climb on foot (400 meters in altitude). But the scenery at this tranquil mountain lake at 1420 m.a.s.l. is simply spectacular. The steep rock faces sing a sweet echo that will make your first contact with the alphorn an unforgettable experience. For the lunch break we walk to the cozy Bächibeizli – the tenant also plays the alphorn\, but will probably not find time to accompany us. Overall\, one of our favorite tours. Possibility to spend the night on the Bösbächi Alp (near the Bächibeizli) and watch the alpine dairyman making cheese in the morning.
