DESCRIPTION:The alphorn also needs to be played lightly and easily! – This course is aimed at anyone with at least intermediate experience on the alphorn. We look at the technical features of our natural horns\, also in comparison to brass instruments with valves and slides. DESCRIPTION:At this meeting\, we practise a lot and cover new things. At the end of the day\, we organize a concert in the city center with all the participants. We introduce the instrument to the audience and explain what it is used for\, how it is built and how it is played. Many people know nothing about the alphorn. On the day there is coffee\, tea\, drinks and a simple lunch. There is plenty of time to exchange experiences and new things are introduced during the breaks. You can also try out other alphorns. There are also many alphorns\, adapters between F and F sharp and many types of mouthpieces from different alphorn makers (Bader\, Eichenberger\, Bernatone\, …) to try out. This is how we work in the technical\nThe alphorn is a musical instrument in which the individual skills are transferred to the sound and playing culture of the alphorn. SUMMARY:Midwest Alphorn Retreat
DESCRIPTION:The 2024 Midwest Alphorn Retreat will begin at 1:00pm\, Wednesday\, July 24th at the Franciscan Life Process Center in Lowell\, MI (15 miles east of the Grand Rapids Airport).  We conclude after brunch on Sunday\, July 28th. All meals\, housing\, group and private lessons\, and all retreat activities and materials are included in your fee.  Bring your spouse! There are 22 on-campus sleeping spaces available on a first come first served basis. Once housing is filled there are many hotels in the area.
