SUMMARY:Federal Yodeling Festival Basel
DESCRIPTION:For the first time since 1924\, a Federal Yodelling Festival is to be held in Basel in the summer of 2026. In addition to around 1\,000 judged performances in the categories of yodeling\, alphorn blowing and flag-waving\, the focus at a Federal Yodeling Festival is always on socializing. The three-day event in the city on the Rhine is expected to attract 10\,000 participants and 150\,000 visitors. The date of the 32nd Federal Yodelling Festival Basel has now been set. It will take place from June 26 to 28\, 2026. \nThe Federal Yodelling Festival in Basel was already planned for 2020\, but had to be postponed by a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Three months before the 2021 date\, the event was definitely canceled. Basel will now have its Federal Yodelling Festival in 2026 after all. In March 2022\, the delegates of the Swiss Yodelling Association (EJV) awarded the Northwestern Switzerland sub-association the right to host the event in 2026. This takes place outside the regular 15-year cycle of the sub-associations\, as the Bernese Cantonal Yodeling Association is foregoing the 2026 event in favor of the cancelled festival in Basel. \nThe festival site and the venues for the presentations by the active participants are all planned centrally in Basel’s city center. Details will follow in due course.

DESCRIPTION:The Blue Ridge Alphorn Workshop is a weekend long celebration of the alphorn that takes place in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. The workshop is designed to cater to musicians of all skill levels\, including day-one beginners. Our home base for the weekend is the beautiful Penmerryl Farm where there are a multitude of opportunities for enjoying our horns in their natural setting including 5.5 miles of hiking trails and a private lake. SUMMARY:The North American Alphorn Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Established in 2008\, The North American Alphorn Retreat is the oldest and longest running alphorn workshop in North America.  In addition to our top-notch teaching staff\, this event gives you the opportunity to play the alphorn in an unmatched mountain setting.   \n2025 marks the 18th annual retreat\, and we are excited for this to be the best one yet. This year the retreat will take place Wednesday August 06th – Satuday August 09th in Salt Lake City\, UT. The final concert will take place as part of Snowbird’s Oktoberfest\, which is one of the largest in the United States. \n​The North American Alphorn Retreat is taught using alphorns in the key of F. Alphorns will be available to rent if you do not have an alphorn of your own\, do not wish to travel with your horn\, or your alphorn does not play in the key of F. \nThe price for the North American Alphorn Retreat is $375. This fee includes all group lessons. There is a discounted rate of $275 for students enrolled in elementary school- post graduate.  The price to rent a horn for the duration of the retreat is $25 \n​

SUMMARY:2nd International Alphorn Meeting in the Netherlands
DESCRIPTION:At this meeting\, we practise a lot and cover new things. At the end of the day\, we organize a concert in the city center with all the participants. We introduce the instrument to the audience and explain what it is used for\, how it is built and how it is played. Many people know nothing about the alphorn. On the day there is coffee\, tea\, drinks and a simple lunch. There is plenty of time to exchange experiences and new things are introduced during the breaks. You can also try out other alphorns. There are also many alphorns\, adapters between F and F sharp and many types of mouthpieces from different alphorn makers (Bader\, Eichenberger\, Bernatone\, …) to try out. An interesting day with lots of new things to try out. Musically we rehearse new pieces and give hot tips for playing. Big news. We have the first wedge mouthpiece from Canada for alphorn. A warm welcome! Prerequisite for participation is some experience with wind instruments.

DESCRIPTION:Every fall since 1953\, downtown Sugarcreek\, Ohio transforms into a lively Swiss village\, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Switzerland. From wine and cheese samplings to races\, contests\, and parades\, the Swiss Festival offers something for everyone. Sponsored by the Ohio Swiss Cheese Association\, Sugarcreek Business Association\, and the Village of Sugarcreek\, this year’s festival takes place September 28th – 30th. There’s music\, food\, and entertainment each day of the festival\, and parking can be found invarious locations downtown.
