Arosa Alphorn Academy. Traditional, modern and contemporary with Lukas Briggen

For many musicians, the alphorn has the significance of a second instrument. The pure tuning and the relative lack of interesting scores have so far limited professionalization. But times are changing: the trend towards a radical expansion of the use of the alphorn has begun. The course takes this fact into account by rehearsing various challenging pieces.

The prerequisite for the course is that you already play the alphorn or a brass instrument at a high, semi-professional or professional level. This is how we work in the technical
The alphorn is a musical instrument in which the individual skills are transferred to the sound and playing culture of the alphorn. This then leads to perfecting the group playing in terms of sound, dynamics and intonation.

Playing long and high with great ease is on the wish list of most wind players. We will therefore focus on clarinet blowing, a technique that has lost importance with the introduction of valves, but which is of great significance for the alphorn. This is also taught in short individual lessons during the week.

Very advanced amateurs on alphorn, students, professional musicians on brass instruments

Intensive group lessons, also phases with individualization and individual support. Also depends somewhat on the needs of the participants.

A small collaboration with other brass classes present is planned.
